What level of care is provided?
Some of our elders require minimal assistance with daily activities and others require much more. We are staffed with on call Geriatric Physicians and Health Care Aides 24×7 and LPN / Registered Nurse (when required). We have all the equipment necessary to deal with both simple personal and complex health needs. In addition to our own staff, we also work closely with Alberta Health Services and Home Care to provide additional support if needed so that our residents can stay at our homes for as long as possible. We provide: Continuing Care, Palliative Care and Supportive Living.
Are you subsidized by the government?
Not yet! Currently our residences are private healthcare facilities and are not subsidized by the government. However the service fees and costs are tax deductible. The services provided are equal to those provided in the government institutions.
Are the rooms furnished?
Yes! All the common areas are furnished with beautiful and comfortable home furnishings. Residents are also invited to bring their own bedroom furniture if they like. However, we do also provide professionally decorated rooms with furnishings in the event that furniture is needed or required. The bedrooms are spacious enough for a twin bed, a dresser and or desk and a sitting chair.
Is laundry included?
Yes! All laundry and linens care is included in the service fee. However, dry cleaning is not included.
What are the visiting hours?
There aren’t any. At Community Care Cottages we do not limit friends and families to formal visiting hours. Visitors may come and go whenever they like. We do ask that families show consideration for other residents, however, if evening visits are frequent. We also ask that you sign in and out when you come.
Can residents have their own telephone or TV?
Yes! Each bedroom is equipped with a telephone, cable and internet line so they can have their own phone, television and computer. Cable and internet charges are included in the cost. Phone service should be through the provider of your choice.
Can family take elders out?
Absolutely! Residents are encouraged to go on outings as much as possible. Please ensure the staff know of the estimated return time so that they can send along medications if needed.
