FAQ's
At Care Cottages, we support residents with a wide range of care needs — from daily assistance to dementia care, advanced long-term support, and palliative end-of-life care.
Each home is licensed as a small residential care home, equipped to provide comprehensive personal and health support within a warm, family-style environment.
Homes are staffed 24 hours a day with experienced Health Care Aides, with an on-site Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) providing leadership, coordination, and clinical support. Each home also has a medical doctor who serves as the house physician and visits regularly to review residents’ care, address medical needs, and collaborate with the care team.
We work closely with local Health Services and Home Care partners to coordinate additional support when required — helping residents remain safely and comfortably in their familiar home environment for as long as possible.
In Alberta, our homes are equipped to provide care comparable to Type A, B, and C levels of continuing care, offering a full range of support for residents with varying physical, cognitive, and medical needs
Our residences are privately operated licensed small residential care homes and are not subsidized by the government. The quality in our homes meets — and often exceeds — provincial standards for residential care, providing peace of mind that your loved one is receiving high-quality support in a warm, home-like environment.
Many families also find it helpful to know that service fees and care costs are often tax-deductible. We encourage families to speak with their trusted tax professional to learn more about potential tax benefits or credits they may qualify for.
Each Care Cottage includes beautifully furnished shared areas that feel just like home.
For bedrooms, residents are welcome to bring their own furniture to create a familiar and personal space. For those who prefer, we can provide a comfortably furnished room designed for both convenience and ease.
Each bedroom accommodates the essentials — a twin bed, dresser, small desk, and chair — along with cherished photos and keepsakes that make it truly feel like home.

At Care Cottages, we don’t set formal visiting hours. Friends and family are welcome to come and go as they wish, because we know how important those connections are.
We simply ask that families be mindful of other residents during evening visits and sign in and out when arriving and leaving.
This is your loved one’s home, and we want families to always feel welcome here.

We simply ask that you let staff know in advance when you’ll be leaving and when you expect to return, so any needed medications or supports can be arranged.
